We intend to incorporate a participatory grantmaking approach and draw on lessons learned from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund. We believe community-based organizations and individuals with lived experience should have a meaningful role in shaping funding priorities and informing grantmaking decisions. While the specific structure for this initiative is still being developed, we anticipate utilizing participatory practices that promote transparency, equity, and community ownership throughout the process.
With our initial funding, we anticipate supporting up to 40 grantees. If additional funding is secured, we could expand to as many as 800 grantees.
